Ukrainian History Week in Prague: partner meetings and Viatrovych book presentation

The central event of the week was a book presentation by prominent Ukrainian historian Volodymyr Viatrovych. Over a hundred people came to meet the author — clutching books to their chests and overwhelmed with emotion. Viatrovych’s boundless energy left an unforgettable impression on everyone present.
“I will not be different. I will be myself”
These words by Volodymyr Viatrovych became the key message of the event. The author believes that preserving one’s own identity — Ukrainian language, culture, and memory — is the guiding principle in the struggle for Victory. Those present received this idea as a personal message addressed to each of them.
The political and civic dimensions of the week
The History Week in Prague had two dimensions. The civic one — presentations, discussions, and meetings with the Ukrainian community in the Czech Republic. The political one — a series of talks with Czech partners who support Ukraine.
The Ukrainian side met with Tomáš Kopečný, Commissioner for Ukraine Reconstruction, and Tomáš Kroupa from Post Bellum. Meetings were also held at the Czech Parliament with MP Pavel Žáček and press attaché of the Parliament Chairman Martin Churavý. During the meetings, the parties expressed gratitude to Czech partners and exchanged views on joint steps toward Ukraine’s Victory.
