Ukrainian Institute in Prague
Since 24 February 2024, the Ukrainian Institute in Prague has been operating as a platform for presenting contemporary Ukrainian culture and fostering Czech-Ukrainian dialogue. The institute brings together the artistic community, professionals from various fields, and the general public.
Its core activities include organising exhibitions, film screenings, literary evenings, musical performances, and discussion programmes that present Ukraine as a vibrant and dynamic cultural space. A Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation in Kyiv enables the institute to focus on these formats and continue expanding them.
An important part of the institute’s work is its partnership with the Václav Havel Library, the Senate and Parliament of the Czech Republic, as well as governmental and non-governmental organisations. Alongside its artistic programmes, the institute develops educational and discussion formats — debates, lectures, and meetings with artists, historians, and journalists — that help place Ukrainian culture in a broader social and historical context.
Today, the institute plays a visible role in cultural diplomacy: it promotes a better understanding of contemporary Ukraine, supports Ukrainian artists both at home and abroad, and strengthens cultural ties between the two countries.
The Ukrainian Institute in Prague has established itself as an important cultural centre that opens Ukrainian art to Czech audiences and builds international dialogue through culture.
