Two Years of the Ukrainian Institute in Prague: From Dialogue to Partnership

Two years ago, the Ukrainian Institute opened its doors in Prague. Since then, it has become an important platform for amplifying Ukraine’s voice in the Czech Republic and deepening relations between the two countries at the level of the Senate, Parliament, and civil society.
The second anniversary is an opportunity to look back at the path taken and assess whether the goals set out at the beginning have been achieved. Rostyslav Prokopyuk, Director of the Ukrainian Institute in Prague, shared his reflections on what has been accomplished and what still lies ahead.
Ukraine’s Voice in the Czech Republic
Over two years, the Ukrainian Institute has significantly strengthened Ukraine’s presence in Czech society. The organisation actively engages with the country’s key institutions — the Senate, Parliament, and numerous civil society structures. This work gives reason to believe that the chosen path is the right one.
The Institute’s efforts are aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of Ukraine in the Czech Republic: its culture, society, and the challenges the country faces amid Russia’s full-scale aggression. Dialogue between the two countries is not merely a diplomatic formality, but a necessary foundation for genuine support and solidarity.
Memorandum with the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation
A year ago, the Ukrainian Institute in Prague signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation. This partnership opened new opportunities for joint activities for the benefit of both countries. Both organisations share a common goal — strengthening ties between Ukraine and the Czech Republic, and promoting Ukrainian values and culture in Central Europe.
The memorandum became a symbol of the Institute’s commitment to building not only internal but also international partnerships — systematically, with a long-term perspective.
A Path of Unity
Looking back on two years of work, the Institute’s team expresses gratitude to everyone who has joined this shared journey. “I thank everyone who walks with us on the path of unity,” the organisation emphasises.
New projects, new partnerships, and new steps in strengthening Ukrainian-Czech dialogue lie ahead. Two years of experience confirm: Ukraine’s voice in the Czech Republic is growing ever stronger.
