Czechs Raised Funds for One Missile — Manufacturer Doubled It: Ukraine to Receive Two Flamingos Dana

The Czech initiative “Gift for Putin” raised over 16 million crowns for a Flamingo cruise missile for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Ukrainian manufacturer Fire Point decided to double the donation: the armed forces will receive not one but two missiles — DANA 1 and DANA 2.
The fundraiser was launched in October 2025 and named after Dana Drábová — Chair of the State Office for Nuclear Safety, who died on 6 October. In under 48 hours, Czechs raised 12.5 million crowns. By 10 November the total had exceeded 16 million, with a surplus of over 3.5 million crowns.
Flamingo: Ukraine’s Answer to the Long-Range Weapons Shortage
The Flamingo cruise missile was developed by Ukrainian company Fire Point in response to the reluctance of foreign partners to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons. Its range is up to 3,000 km, speed 900 km/h, and warhead weight up to 1,150 kg. The missile is capable of reaching Moscow or St. Petersburg.
Propulsion is provided by a jet engine, likely originally designed for Aero L-39 Albatros trainer aircraft, of which Ukraine has ample stocks. The missile is resistant to electronic warfare and uses special GPS systems with anti-jamming protection.
Gift for Putin: Tanks, Helicopters, Now Missiles
The “Gift for Putin” initiative — an ironic reference to the Russian president’s name — regularly runs fundraisers for weapons for Ukraine. It has previously acquired and delivered to the Ukrainian military an RM-70 rocket launcher named Přemysl (50 million crowns), a T-72 tank (30 million crowns), and a US Black Hawk helicopter named Čestmír (72.64 million crowns).
After the DANA 1 fundraiser exceeded its target, the initiative held a vote on platform X about how to use the surplus. No new fundraiser will be announced for now — the manufacturer requested a pause due to production capacity constraints.
