For the third consecutive year, Václav Havel Library in Prague hosted Rostislav Prokopyuk’s discussion forum “Ukraine as a Task”. Over three years, no guest has appeared twice — and once again the event brought together people who have something meaningful to say about Ukraine.

The forum took place in the welcoming atmosphere of Václav Havel Library. Two invited guests represented different dimensions of support for Ukraine: civic volunteering and parliamentary engagement.

Czech Volunteer Hub: When a Friend Is at War, You Do Everything You Can

Kateřina Krejčová, co-founder of Czech Volunteer Hub, shared what drew her to volunteer work. Personal motivation — knowing that someone close to you is on the front line — became the driving force behind her efforts.

Czech Volunteer Hub raises funds to support Ukrainian military medicine instructors. The reason is straightforward and urgent: on the battlefield, there are often only 60 seconds between life and death. Proper first aid, provided by the wounded or their fellow soldiers, can make all the difference.

The organisation supports the Ukrainian volunteer structure TakMed JIH. Donations can be made via the Darujme.cz platform, and more information is available at czechvolunteerhub.cz.

Senator David Smoljak: Media, Hybrid Threats and Ukraine in the EU

David Smoljak chairs the Standing Commission on Media and serves as a member of the Committee on European Union Affairs in the Czech Senate. His work focuses on media freedom, protecting the information space, and countering hybrid threats.

The senator visits Ukraine regularly and has a deep understanding of the realities the country faces. At the forum, he shared his perspective on the role of the Czech Republic and the European Union in supporting Ukraine — both on the information and political level.

A recording of the full discussion with both guests will be available soon. The event was organised by the Ukrainian Institute in Prague.
